OKO, 2000, 7x7x7’ (213x213x213cm), cast recycled glass and steel
Crystal Chain Gang, Auckland City Art Gallery, Auckland, NZ
OKO is one of my first sculptures in which I start using glass and steel in combination. It is made out of recycled beer and wine bottles. OKO means eye in Slovenian; the symmetry of the word is matched by the sculptures’ two-sided structure. It is like a giant, Orwellian, 360 degree vision eyeball-evoking colours of the planet.
This work was included in Crystal Chain Gang, an exhibition curated by Alan Smith.
